A recent consumer unit does not make the older cable new. · 5.0 Star from 39 reviews Minor works certification in Chipstead records one new circuit or one straight swap. A consumer unit that looks recent does not turn older cable into cable that was just installed. ## What Chipstead minor works include The figure is the certificate for the circuit or the swap named. It is not an inspection of the whole house, and it is not a new feed to a stable unless that feed was the work being certified. - Minor works certificate: from £80 - A second circuit is a second certificate. - The incoming supply from the road is not certified by a socket swap. - A board change has its own paperwork. ## Minor works certification across Chipstead We serve Chipstead from our base in Banstead. - High Road - Outwood Lane - Starrock Lane - Hazelwood Lane - How Lane - Coulsdon Lane - Hazel Way - Chipstead station - Shabden Park ## What happens on the day The certificate matches the work that was done. A new circuit is written as a new circuit, including in a house where the consumer unit looks newer than the cable behind it. A straight swap of one accessory is written as a swap, not as a circuit we have added. Cottages on High Road and detached houses on Hazelwood Lane take the same rule. The feed to a stable is certified only when that feed was the work. ### Match the paper to the work The certificate describes the circuit or the accessory that was worked on. It does not describe the rest of the house, and it does not describe a building we did not enter. ### Say when the cable is older If the new circuit lands on cable that is older than the consumer unit, the note says so. The tidy fascia is not written up as if the cable were new. ### Keep a swap as a swap Replacing one socket or one switch with a like for like fitting is not written as a new circuit. The test still happens. ## Questions about Chipstead minor works ### Does a new looking board make the job minor? The look does not decide it. A new circuit is still a new circuit when it sits in front of older cabling. The certificate follows the work, not the fascia. ### Is a like for like socket a new circuit? No. One socket replaced with the same sort of socket is a swap. It is tested, and it is not written as a circuit we added. ### Can one certificate cover the stable and the kitchen? No. Each circuit has its own record. A kitchen circuit and a stable feed are not folded together on one sheet. ### Is this the five year inspection? No. Minor works paper covers the job just done. The inspection of the whole installation is a different report. ### Do cottages on High Road need extra paper? They need an accurate description. If the cable follows the cottage and is older than the unit, that is what the note says. ## Other services in Chipstead - [Electrician in Chipstead](https://www.tmbelectrics.co.uk/electrician-chipstead): Electrician in Chipstead, Surrey (CR5) — the Reigate and Banstead village, not Chipstead in Kent.
