A new circuit is separate." canonical: "https://www.tmbelectrics.co.uk/electrician-coulsdon/electric-shower-installation" --- # Electric shower installation in Coulsdon > Electric shower work in Coulsdon connects the unit to the circuit already there, after the cable is checked against the rating. A new circuit is separate. An electric shower in Coulsdon is connected to the circuit already in that bathroom, once the cable has been checked against the shower rating. A new circuit is booked apart. ## What a Coulsdon shower connection covers Checking the existing circuit, connecting the shower and fitting the pull cord isolator are this price. A new circuit, and a board change, are quoted apart. - Electric shower installation: from £220 - The shower unit, the plumbing and the tiling are not in this price. - A cable that cannot carry the rating stops the connection. - A chalet bungalow does not get a new board on this visit. ## Electric shower installation across Coulsdon We serve Coulsdon from our base in Banstead. - Brighton Road - Chipstead Valley Road - Marlpit Lane - Old Coulsdon - Bradmore Green - Coulsdon Woods - Cane Hill Park - Netherne-on-the-Hill ## What happens on the day We check the cable and the breaker against the rating of the shower, then connect the unit and fit or replace the pull cord isolator. Plumbing, tiling and the shower unit itself stay with the bathroom. In a bay fronted semi or a chalet bungalow around Old Coulsdon the shower is not hung on a circuit that was added years ago unless that cable still matches the rating. If it does not, we stop. That heavier feed is quoted later, and this visit ends at the check. ### Match the cable to the rating The existing cable and breaker are compared with the shower that is going in. A higher rating that the cable cannot carry is not connected, and that limit is said in the bathroom. ### Fit the pull cord isolator We land the shower on its cables and put a pull cord where the isolator belongs. The bathroom fitter keeps the tray, the glass and the wall finish. ### Stop rather than borrow an old run Around Old Coulsdon a circuit that has sat there for years is not borrowed just because it is nearby. If it cannot carry the shower, a new circuit is a later booking. ## Questions about electric showers in Coulsdon ### Can a higher rated shower reuse the old cable? Only when that cable and breaker still match the rating. If they do not, the shower is not connected and a new circuit is priced as later work. ### Who fits the tray and the tiles? The bathroom fitter keeps the tray, the screen and the tiling. We connect the shower that is there and fit the pull cord isolator. ### Does a semi around Old Coulsdon get a new board as well? No. Board changes are common in these bungalows and semis, and they stay a different booking. This visit is the shower connection. ### What if the bathroom was not the one named? We do not open it. The bathroom on the booking is the one whose cable is checked, and a second room is written down before anyone starts. ### Will you run a new circuit on the same visit? Not unless that circuit was already priced. The included work is the check, the connection and the pull cord isolator. ## Other services in Coulsdon - [Electrician in Coulsdon](https://www.tmbelectrics.co.uk/electrician-coulsdon): Coulsdon electrician for EV chargers, fault finding and domestic work, with supply, access and cable route checked first. - [Electric shower installation (all areas)](https://www.tmbelectrics.co.uk/services/electric-shower-installation): Electric shower installation in Banstead and Surrey from £220 by TMB Electrics.
