A new cylinder is not included. A house in the Sutton Garden Suburb or in West Sutton with no heater is not given a price for one. An older stage near the centre is not rewired because the element failed. - Immersion heater repair: from £80 an hour; from £80 an hour - Which part goes back in is chosen once the heater is opened. - Plumbing a replacement cylinder sits outside this repair. - A failed feed on an older rewire stage is written on its own. ## Immersion heater repair across Sutton We serve Sutton from our base in Banstead. - Sutton town centre - Cheam Road - Belmont - Benhilton - Rosehill - Sutton Garden Suburb - West Sutton - Carshalton Road ## What happens on the day The repair covers the element and the thermostat of the heater fitted at that address. A new cylinder is not presumed. Arts and Crafts houses in the Sutton Garden Suburb are not written up as if they had an immersion. 1930s houses in West Sutton are repaired only when a heater is fitted. The circuit isolated is the one that feeds it, including where a centre semi still uses an older rewire stage for that circuit. ### Repair the part that failed The element and the thermostat are checked with the circuit isolated. The part that failed is replaced. A new cylinder is not presumed because the heater is old. ### Stop if the cylinder leaks The cylinder is left alone unless it is already leaking. A leak stops the electrical repair and is reported. It is not wired around. ### Open only the feeding circuit Isolation is the circuit that feeds the heater. In a centre semi that may be an older stage. Other stages stay on. A rewire is not started because an element failed. ## Sutton immersion questions ### Do Sutton Garden Suburb houses all have an immersion? No. Arts and Crafts houses are not written up as if they did. The repair happens when a heater is there. Cable around the building is not a clue that a cylinder is fitted. ### What about West Sutton? Same rule. A 1930s house is repaired only when the heater is fitted. Wanting more sockets is not a sign of an immersion. ### Do you replace the cylinder? No. The repair stays with the element and the thermostat. If the cylinder is leaking, the electrical work stops and the leak is reported. ### Will a failed element rewire a centre semi? No. The circuit that feeds the heater is tested and isolated. Other rewire stages stay. A rewire is not started by one element. ### How do you know which part failed? The circuit is isolated, then the element and the thermostat are checked one at a time. Only the failed part is changed. ## Other services in Sutton - [Electrician in Sutton](https://www.tmbelectrics.co.uk/electrician-sutton): Sutton electrician for EICRs, fault finding, rewiring, consumer units and EV chargers, with clear next steps before booking. - [Immersion heater repair (all areas)](https://www.tmbelectrics.co.uk/services/immersion-heater-hot-water-repair): TMB Electrics immersion heater repair in Banstead from £80 an hour.
