Ashtead armoured cable price
The figure is the one outside feed named on the Ashtead quote, at the length and depth already set. A second line, or a line moved because of trees near Ashtead Park, is repriced before digging.
From £250
Included
- Planning the cable path from the consumer unit or isolator to the far end
- Laying of steel wire armoured (SWA) cable, buried or clipped as the quote sets out
- Glands and terminations at both ends
- Continuity and insulation resistance tests on the new run
- A minor works certificate or installation certificate for the circuit
Ways to pay

- Pay by bank
- Bank transfer
- Reinstating lawns, paths and planting is outside the electrical figure unless the quote says otherwise.
- A consumer unit change at either end is a separate job.
- Work inside the outbuilding, beyond terminating the feed, is the outbuilding job.

What happens on the day
SWA is a new feed when the cable already in the ground has failed its test, or when there is no feed. It is an added circuit, not a rewire of the house. The line is marked before digging. Near Ashtead Park the line is checked against protected land, trees and visible features, and a line that fails that check is not dug. On the Ashtead Park side the feed lands on the board for that outbuilding. Depth and length are the ones on the quote.
- Mark the line firstThe line from the board to the building is marked on the ground before a trench starts. Photographs of both ends are part of that plan. A working socket at the far end does not prove the old cable can stay.
- Respect the park edgeA line toward Ashtead Park or Ashtead Common is checked against trees, protected land and visible features. Mole Valley constraints are address level. A line that would affect them is moved on the plan, not in the trench.
- Land on the right boardThe new feed terminates on the board that serves the outbuilding. House boards on the Ashtead Park side are not used as a convenient spare when they do not feed that building.

When is new armoured cable used instead of the old feed?
When the existing cable fails a test, or when there is no feed to the building. A lamp that still works is not a reason to reuse a cable that has not been tested.
Will you dig toward Ashtead Park without a check?
No. The line is checked against protected land, trees and visible features first. The park is a local nature reserve, and a line that fails is redrawn before anyone digs.
Does the new feed rewire the house on Barnett Wood Lane?
No. It is an added circuit to the building it serves. Long serving circuits in the house stay as they are.
Which board does the feed land on?
The board for that outbuilding. On the Ashtead Park side that is often not the main house board, and the house board is left out of the termination.
Is the trench depth decided on the day?
No. Depth and length are the ones on the quote. A change because of tree roots or protected ground is priced before the line moves.
