Minor works certification across Ashtead
We serve Ashtead from our base in Banstead.
What happens on the day
The certificate covers the one circuit named, not the whole house. Extended interwar semis on Barnett Wood Lane and Agates Lane frequently need that extra circuit, and the certificate describes it. A second consumer unit off Craddocks Avenue is mentioned only as the place the circuit starts. A condition report, a rewire and a make safe are different documents.
- Name the one circuitThe certificate identifies the circuit that was added, the board it leaves, and the points it feeds. Other long serving circuits in a Lower Ashtead semi are not swept onto the same form.
- Test that circuitThe tests are the ones that belong to the new circuit. A working socket elsewhere in the house is not used as a substitute for those readings.
- Leave the other jobs off itA consumer unit change, a condition report or a repair in an Ashtead Park outbuilding is not written up as a minor works certificate. Each of those has its own record.

Does one certificate cover every circuit on Agates Lane?
No. It covers the circuit that was added. The long serving circuits already in an extended semi stay off the form unless they were part of the same job.
Is a new socket on Barnett Wood Lane enough for a certificate?
When it is a new circuit, or an alteration that needs one, yes. A like for like swap of an accessory is not dressed up as a new circuit.
Does the second consumer unit off Woodfield Lane get its own certificate here?
Only the circuit leaving it. Replacing that unit is the consumer unit job, with its own record. This certificate does not stand in for that change.
Can several boards on the Ashtead Park side share one minor works form?
No. The form is the one circuit. Another board, including an outbuilding board, is another job if work was done there.
Is this an EICR?
No. An EICR looks at the installation that is there. This certificate records one addition. The rest of the house is not coded on it.
