Ashtead light fitting price
The figure is the swap at the existing Ashtead point, including a dimmer where the lamp allows it. Moving the point, or cutting a cottage on The Street, is not in that figure.
From £50
Included
- Taking off the old fitting, dimmer or switch
- Connecting the new pendant, ceiling light, dimmer or plate switch to the existing cables
- Landing live, neutral and earth in the new terminals
- Isolation of that lighting circuit at the fuse board
- A working test of the light or the switched circuit
Ways to pay

- Pay by bank
- Bank transfer
- The fitting is included only when it is the one named on the quote.
- A new circuit for extra lights is the downlight or the socket circuit job, not this swap.
- Making good a ceiling that was already damaged is separate.

What happens on the day
The fitting or the dimmer is swapped where the cable already arrives. Period cottages on The Street keep that point, because the building is worked around rather than opened. A dimmer is fitted only where the lamp and the existing cable allow it. 1930s houses off Woodfield Lane do not have the second consumer unit changed just so a pendant can be swapped. An Ashtead Park outbuilding is done from the board that feeds it.
- Stay on the existing pointThe new fitting uses the cable that is already there. The Street swap keeps the cottage intact. A move to a new position is a different job and is described before any cutting.
- Match the dimmer to the lampThe dimmer is chosen for the lamps on that circuit. A lamp that cannot be dimmed is not forced. The existing cable is tested for the swap, and a long serving circuit on Agates Lane is not assumed to be spare for extra fittings.
- Leave the unit aloneSwapping a fitting off Woodfield Lane does not replace the second consumer unit. That unit is opened only if the circuit itself is the fault, and then the fault is named before any bigger job.

Will a new pendant on The Street mean chasing the cottage?
No. The swap uses the cable already at that point. Moving the light is a different job, and the building is not opened just to tidy the old point.
Can every lamp off Craddocks Avenue take a dimmer?
No. The lamp and the circuit decide it. A lamp that cannot be dimmed stays on a plain switch, and the second consumer unit is not changed to force the issue.
Is a long serving circuit on Agates Lane able to take more fittings?
Only if the test says so. Extended semis there are not given extra lamps on the assumption that a working switch means spare capacity.
Do you change the consumer unit because a light failed?
No. Woodfield Lane keeps the second unit in place. If the circuit is the fault, that fault is named, and a unit change is only booked if it is actually required.
How is a light in an Ashtead Park outbuilding fed?
From the board that feeds the outbuilding. On that side of Ashtead the house board is often the wrong one, and it is left closed.
