What happens on the day
Sockets, fused spurs and isolators go in for the equipment on the list, in that one premises. When the sockets there cannot carry the load, a new circuit from the board is part of the work only if it was priced. Cable is clipped or put in trunking as that building allows. We switch off only the circuits we are extending. The rest of the workplace stays live when those circuits can be separated. A flat's stair meter cupboard near Netherne on the Hill is not opened so a workplace can borrow it.
- Stay in the one premisesThe shop, office or workshop named is the whole job. The unit next door is not given sockets because someone left a connecting door open.
- Add a circuit only when the load needs itExisting sockets are used when they can carry the equipment. A new circuit from the board is added only when they cannot, and only when that circuit was priced.
- Leave the stair cupboard shutA workplace is not fed from a stair meter cupboard that serves flats near Netherne on the Hill. That cupboard is not a spare way into someone else's supply.

Will the unit next door be included?
No. One shop, office or workshop is the booking. An open door into the next unit does not add that unit's sockets.
When is a new circuit from the board included?
When the sockets already there cannot carry the equipment, and when that new circuit was priced. Otherwise the work stays on the circuits being extended.
Can you use a stair cupboard near Netherne on the Hill?
No. Those cupboards serve the flats and the shared supply. A workplace does not borrow a neighbour's meter to feed its sockets.
Does the whole building lose power?
Only the circuits we are extending are switched off. The rest of the workplace stays live when those circuits can be separated. We say what will go off before it is switched.
Is a board change included?
No. Replacing the consumer unit is its own booking. This visit does not swap the board because new sockets were fitted.
