PAT testing in Ashtead
TMB Electrics, based in Banstead, tests plug in appliances in Ashtead and labels each one. Fixed wiring on The Street or a board on the Ashtead Park side is a different visit.

The figure follows the number of plug in items presented in the Ashtead property, including an outbuilding on the Ashtead Park side when those items are on the list. Fixed wiring tests are not in it.
From £120
£120 for up to 20 appliances, then £1.50 per additional appliance.
Included when agreed
- Visual inspection of the plug, lead and casing
- Earth continuity, insulation and polarity tests as the class of appliance needs
- A pass or fail label on each item
- A register listing every appliance and its result
Ways to pay

- Pay by bank
- Bank transfer
- A condition report on the circuits is a separate visit.
- Items added on the day, after the list was closed, are counted before they are tested.

PAT testing across Ashtead
We serve Ashtead from our base in Banstead.
What happens on the day
Each appliance with a plug is tested, labelled and written on a list. Kit kept in an outbuilding on the Ashtead Park side is included when it is on that list, and it is not assumed to be covered by a test of the house sockets. A pass label is not a test of the fixed wiring. Extended semis on Barnett Wood Lane still need their own circuits inspected if that is what was asked for.
- Test the plug in kitAppliances are tested one by one and labelled with the result. A list is left that names each item. Items stored in an Ashtead Park outbuilding are only on that list when they were presented for the visit.
- Leave the wiring aloneSockets on Agates Lane and the second consumer unit off Craddocks Avenue are not judged by a PAT visit. A failed appliance is unplugged. The circuit that feeds the socket is a different job.
- Record what failedA failed item is labelled and left unplugged. The note says what failed. Repair of the appliance, past advising that it failed, is not part of the test.

Does a PAT visit check the consumer unit off Woodfield Lane?
No. The visit is the plug in appliances. The second consumer unit in a 1930s house off Woodfield Lane is fixed wiring, and it needs its own inspection if that is what you want.
Is kit in an Ashtead Park outbuilding included?
When it is on the list for the day. Houses there often keep equipment in an outbuilding, and a test of the house does not cover items that were not presented.
What happens to a failed kettle or heater?
It is labelled and left unplugged. The list records the failure. Putting that appliance back into use is not something the test does.
Are long serving circuits on Agates Lane part of this?
No. Those circuits are fixed wiring. PAT labels do not say whether an extended semi still has spare capacity on the circuit that feeds the sockets.
Do cottages on The Street need a different test?
The appliance test is the same. The building is not opened. We need the items unplugged and gathered, because the test does not go looking inside walls.
