Electrical fault finding in Kingswood
When a circuit trips in Kingswood, TMB Electrics finds which board opened. A unit in the garage or annexe is tested as its own installation.

What the Kingswood fault visit covers
The figure is for finding the tripped circuit and saying which board it belongs to. If the garage or annexe unit is the one that opened, that unit is part of the same finding. The repair, and any later work on original wiring, is priced after the cause is named.

What happens on the day
Warren Drive houses are often large enough to have two consumer units. We start by seeing which one opened, then follow the circuit that lost power. On a 1920s or 1930s Costain house the later additions sit on the original wiring, so a fault under an addition is traced along that circuit. We do not take the addition apart to look, and we do not treat a newer house on Woodland Way as if it had that older layout.
- Separate the two boardsThe house unit and any unit in the garage, annexe or outbuilding are identified before a repair is discussed. A trip on one is written against that unit only.
- Follow the circuit under the additionWhere a Costain house has had work added over the years, the test stays on the circuit that tripped. The later building work is left in place.
- Stop once the cause is namedThis visit names the circuit and the board. Replacing original wiring, or adding a circuit elsewhere, is arranged after that and only if the tests call for it.

Do you open a garage unit as well as the house?
When the trip could be coming from there, yes. Large houses around Warren Drive often have a separate unit in the garage or annexe, and that unit is tested on its own.
Can later building work hide the fault on a Costain house?
The addition can sit over the original wiring. We follow the circuit that is opening. We do not start by stripping the addition out.
Is the visit a rewire?
No. We name the cause. If a 1920s or 1930s Costain house then needs its original wiring replaced, that is a separate piece of work.
Woodland Way houses are tested the same way?
The method is the same. On Woodland Way and off Copthill Lane the usual need is more circuits, not a full rewire. When one of those added circuits trips, we still trace that circuit.
Does this include the rented home inspection?
No. Letting the house does not fold this call into the five year wiring inspection. We stay on the circuit that is tripping.
