Electrical fault finding and repair in Sutton

The flats above the High Street shops, whose Victorian frontages went up on the west side in 1870 and the east side in 1880, produce some of the awkward ones. Supplies, meters and circuits for shop and flat were separated at different dates by different hands, so establishing what actually feeds what comes before any testing.

Out towards Sutton Common and Rosehill the pattern is different. Decades of extensions and garden buildings hang off circuits that were never sized for them, and a single RCD that drops overnight usually means moisture somewhere outside. Finding which run is a process of halving the search, not guessing.

A loose connection in an accessible junction box can be found and repaired quickly. A concealed or intermittent fault takes as long as it takes, so I work in hourly steps, tell you what has been ruled out as I go, and you decide whether the next step is worth it.

Efficient job, well organised with good communication

Trevor was amazing very constructive as he faced real problems with our current set up but he managed to find solutions and did an excellent job! I would recommend him to anyone, trustworthy and high level of expertise, look no further! Thank you Trevor

Trevor went over and beyond trying to sort out the recommissioning of my electrical installation. He spoke with my provider and the EICR certificate was ready in minutes. I will highly recommend

Electrical fault finding and repair in Sutton — FAQs

Why will you not quote a fixed price for fault finding?+

Because the honest answer is that the time is unknown until testing starts. I charge by the hour, keep you updated at each stage, and quote the repair separately once the cause is proven.

My RCD only trips at night. Is that worth a call?+

Yes, and tell me the timing when you ring. Overnight tripping in Sutton often points at outside lighting, a shed supply or an immersion heater, and that pattern narrows the search before I arrive.

Can you work on a flat above a shop?+

Yes, though those need the supply arrangement established first. I would rather have access to the meter position, and the shop's board where it matters, than start blind, so say so when you book.

Do you repair appliances as well?+

No. I work on the fixed installation: circuits, sockets, switches, lighting and protective devices. If the fault turns out to be an appliance I will tell you which one and stop there.

Do I get paperwork afterwards?+

It depends what gets repaired. Where the completed work needs a certificate or test record I provide the right one for what I actually did, rather than a document covering more than I touched.
