Smoke & heat alarm installation across Worcester Park
We serve Worcester Park from our base in Banstead.
What happens on the day
Smoke heads go in the bedrooms and on the landing, and the kitchen gets a heat head. A rear extension on Green Lane that is used as the kitchen gets heat, not a smoke alarm meant for a bedroom. The alarms are interlinked, and the circuit is tested. Central Road flats are fitted for that flat alone. The landlord's fixed wiring certificate is a different visit. Newer homes at The Hamptons take the same room by room set.
- Follow the roomBedrooms and the landing take smoke. Kitchens take heat. Cheam Common Road extensions used as a kitchen are classed by that use, so the alarm type follows the room rather than the age of the semi.
- Cover the flat, not the paradeCentral Road flats above the parade get alarms in that flat. The unit below is not fitted unless it is its own job. The landlord certificate cycle is not replaced by these heads.
- Link them and test the circuitThe set is interlinked and the link is tested. On the original layout of a Green Lane semi the circuit is checked before the bases are fixed. A modern board at The Hamptons is left as it is.

Which rooms get a smoke alarm?
Bedrooms and the landing. The kitchen gets a heat head. A rear extension on Green Lane gets heat when that room is the kitchen, even if the extension came later.
Does a Central Road flat include the parade?
No. The set is for the flat. The unit below is a different premises and a different visit. The landlord wiring certificate is separate again.
Will you replace the modern board at The Hamptons?
No. Homes off Caldbeck Avenue keep the modern board. The set needs a circuit with room for it. If that room is missing, the limit is written before any base is fixed.
Are the alarms interlinked?
Yes. A house or a Central Road flat gets the whole set on the list, not one head on its own. The link is checked before we leave.
Is this the five year inspection?
No. Rented homes have a fixed wiring inspection on its own cycle. These are smoke and heat alarms, and they do not replace that report.
