The meter cupboard is shared with other flats. Can you still change my board?+
Yes, with access sorted first. Before the job is booked I establish which of those supplies is yours and who holds the cupboard key, so no neighbour's power is put at risk on the day.
Do I need a new board or a full rewire?+
They are different jobs and testing tells them apart. A board change protects sound circuits properly; it does not repair cable that has had enough. I test first and tell you which one you are actually looking at.
Our house was refurbished during the Roundshaw regeneration. Is the board original?+
Not necessarily, and it is worth checking rather than assuming. The retained brick homes were refurbished across that programme and boards have been changed at different times since, so I look at what is fitted.
Will the new board leave room for an EV charger later?+
I ask about future plans before choosing a board, because leaving a workable way to add a charger circuit later costs far less than revisiting it. Whether your supply can carry one is a separate check I can do at the same visit.
How much notice do you need?+
Not much for a straightforward change, but I would rather see the existing board first. Send a photo of it and of the meter position when you enquire and I can tell you what the visit needs to cover.
