Data and network point installation in Chipstead
A data point in Chipstead finishes at the router the house already uses. Cable to a garden room is a data cable, not a new electrical feed to a stable.

Data and network point installation across Chipstead
We serve Chipstead from our base in Banstead.
What happens on the day
We run the data cable from the router that is already in the house to the faceplate that was named, and we test that link. A point in a garden room is still only data. It does not replace a small electrical feed to a stable, and it does not renew older cabling behind the consumer unit. On a long plot the data cable can cross the garden when that was named. The supply that runs a long way in from the road stays buried.
- Finish at the existing routerThe faceplate is taken to the router this house already uses. Another router is not added, and rooms that were not named stay without a point.
- Keep data off the power feedA data cable into a garden room is not a power cable. Sockets and lights in that room still depend on the electrical feed, which is tested only if that work was booked.
- Leave the older power cableFinding tired power cable during the run is written down. It is not replaced under a data point, and the consumer unit is not changed.

Do you replace the router?
No. The new faceplate runs to the router the house already has. With no router on site, there is nowhere for the cable to finish.
Is a garden room point a power supply?
No. It carries data. Lights and sockets in that room still need the electrical feed, which on many Chipstead plots is already too small and is a different job.
Will the trench replace the supply from the road?
No. Even on a valley plot, data cable is not the incoming electrical supply. That supply stays as it is.
What if you find a power fault on the way?
It is written down and left for its own visit. A data point does not become an inspection or a board change.
Can every room be done at once?
Only the faceplates on the list. Extra rooms are counted before the cable is cut, including in a house near Chipstead station.
