Smoke & heat alarm installation across Chipstead
We serve Chipstead from our base in Banstead.
What happens on the day
Each bedroom is given a smoke alarm, the landing is given one, and the kitchen is given a heat alarm, on bases fixed to circuits that have been tested. A garden room or annexe off Outwood Lane is included only when somebody sleeps there. These heads do not inspect the older cabling behind a consumer unit, and they do not test the feed to a stable. The long supply in from the road is not part of siting a head.
- Place heads from the roomsBedrooms, the landing and the kitchen decide the heads. A box room used as a bedroom is treated as a bedroom. A cupboard is not.
- Include a sleep space onlyA garden room is given a smoke alarm when people sleep in it. A stable with no sleeping space is not given a domestic head so the paper looks complete.
- Test the circuits usedThe circuits the heads sit on are tested. That is not an inspection of every cable in the house, and it is not a certificate for the consumer unit.

Which rooms get a head?
Every bedroom and the landing receive a smoke alarm. The kitchen receives a heat alarm. A room nobody sleeps in does not get a smoke alarm just to swell the count.
What about a garden room off Outwood Lane?
If someone sleeps there, it gets a smoke alarm and that circuit is tested. If it is storage, it does not.
Do the heads prove the old cable is sound?
No. Alarms sit on the circuits that feed them. Older cabling behind the consumer unit is an inspection, not a head on the ceiling.
Is a let house different?
The rooms still decide the heads. The inspection a let house needs for its fixed wiring is a separate report, not these alarms.
Will you cable a stable as if it were a bedroom?
No. A stable is not a bedroom. Its feed is not used to justify a domestic alarm layout in that building.
