Extractor fan installation in Wallington
An extractor in Wallington is fitted where the bathroom or kitchen was named, once that circuit has been tested with the fan on it. The duct stays inside that dwelling.

What happens on the day
The fan is placed in the named bathroom or kitchen, and that circuit is checked while the fan runs. In villas on Clifton Road and Belmont Road the duct follows the house that has already been extended, rather than punching into a neighbour. A flat over a Woodcote Road shop exhausts through that flat. A wide road board with no room is not given the fan on a circuit that has already failed.
- Fit the room that was namedThe named bathroom or kitchen receives the fan. Any other room is a separate fan, written before a hole is cut.
- Keep the duct inside the dwellingAn extended villa keeps the duct in that house. The flat over the Woodcote Road shops does not send the duct through the shop below.
- Test before it is left runningThat circuit is checked while the fan runs. If it fails, the fan is disconnected and the fault is written down.

Can the duct cross into the next house?
No. On Clifton Road and Belmont Road the duct stays in the villa that was booked. A long installation is not a reason to enter the neighbour.
Does a flat exhaust through the shop?
No. The flat over the Woodcote Road shops vents through that flat. Air from the flat is not dumped into the shop, even on a shared incoming supply.
What happens if the fan circuit fails its test?
The fan waits. A failed circuit is written down, including where a wide road board was never meant for the extension.
Will the room be repainted around the fan?
No. Paintwork around the grille is left as found. Whoever is finishing the room deals with that once the fan has been tested.
Is Roundshaw treated as a rewire?
No. A house rebuilt from 1998 gets this fan on a tested circuit. Other circuits those houses often want are not this hole.
