TMB Electrics installs recessed downlights for homes, landlords and businesses in Banstead and Surrey. We cut or reuse ceiling openings, wire each fitting onto the lighting circuit, and test that circuit so the room is left lit as planned.

Downlight installation for homes and workplaces
- Houses, rented flats and commercial rooms book downlight installation when they need even ceiling light rather than one pendant.
- The room stays dim away from the centre light and you want even light across the ceiling.
- Halogen downlights run hot in the void and you want cooler LED fittings in the same holes.
- You want bright, even light over worktops or a bath, with fittings suited to steam and splashes.
What is covered
Each downlight job covers the fittings, the ceiling openings, the connections and the tests. Building work and a new circuit from the fuse board sit outside it.

What happens on the day
We isolate the lighting circuit, fit the downlights, restore power and test every lamp before we leave.

Protect the room and isolate
Floors and furniture are covered, the lighting circuit is isolated, and the ceiling void is checked before cutting.

Fit each downlight
Housings go into the ceiling, cables are terminated in the fittings, and bezels sit flush with the plasterboard.
- 03
Restore power and test
Power goes back on, each downlight is switched from the correct plate, and the room is left tidy.
Downlight installation prices
Downlight installation starts from £150. The written quote then reflects how many fittings you want and whether the existing lighting circuit can take them.
- £150 is a starting price, not a figure for a whole ceiling.
- Bathroom zone fittings, fire-rated housings or a new lighting circuit from the fuse board are set out on the quote.
- The written price is given before work starts.

How much does downlight installation cost?+
Downlight installation starts from £150. How many fittings you want, and whether the existing lighting circuit can take them, sets the written quote. That quote is given before any hole is cut.

Will you turn the electricity off?+
The lighting circuit being worked on is isolated while the downlights go in. Sockets and other circuits stay on unless they have to be isolated for access. Those lights are tested with power restored before we leave.

Can you put downlights in a bathroom?+
Yes, using fittings rated for the bathroom zone they will sit in. The zone and the existing circuit decide which lamps can go over a shower or basin. That choice is written on the quote before the ceiling is cut.
Do downlights need a certificate?+
TMB Electrics completes the testing and documentation the job requires. A separate minor works certificate starts from £80 when that document is part of the job. You see it on the written quote first.
Can I keep my existing holes?+
Existing halogen holes can take a new LED housing when the cut out matches the new housing. A different size means a new hole and making good around it, priced on the quote. The ceiling void is checked before cutting.
