How Kingswood downlights are counted
An opening is billed only for a ceiling with space above it. The later Costain addition is counted apart from the original rooms. A solid ceiling stays shut. If the lamps need a circuit the wiring cannot give, that circuit is named before a cutter comes out.

What happens on the day
Each ceiling is checked before it is opened. On The Warren a later addition to a Costain house can have a different ceiling from the original rooms, so the two are not treated as one. Where there is no space above, the ceiling stays shut. Newer ceilings on Woodland Way are not copied from a 1930s house. Holes stay in the room on the list, not in the garage, unless the garage is the room.
- Check the addition on its ownA ceiling in a later addition on a Costain house is looked at before any cut. The original rooms are not opened just because the addition can take a lamp.
- Leave a solid ceiling shutWhere there is no space above, the ceiling is left. Wanting downlights does not create that space, including at a house off Copthill Lane.
- Name a new circuit before cuttingWhen the wiring under a later addition cannot feed the lamps, we write that down and cut nothing. We do not assume another circuit is sitting spare.

Is a Costain addition the same ceiling as the original rooms?
Not by assumption. The addition came later, and its ceiling is checked on its own. Space above one room does not mean the next room has it.
Will you cut the garage ceiling for the house?
No. Openings stay in the room being fitted. A garage or annexe is cut only if that space was named before we arrived.
What if the original wiring cannot feed the lamps?
That limit is written before cutting. A new circuit is a different line. The downlights do not start a rewire of the house.
Woodland Way ceilings are treated as 1930s?
No. Those newer houses are checked on their own. Wanting extra circuits is not the same as having space above the ceiling.
Are the lamps included?
Lamps chosen ahead of arrival are the ones fitted. A change after the holes exist is talked through before other fittings are bought.
