What happens on the day
Before anything is joined, the cable and breaker in the named bathroom are set against the shower rating. A cord isolator is fitted where that switch belongs. Plumbing, the tray and the wall finish stay with the bathroom fitter. A 1930s house on the old Reigate Priory estate often needs its board replaced, and that replacement is not opened for a shower. If the cable is too light, the visit stops and the finding is said in the room.
- Set the rating against the cableThe shower going in is compared with the cable and breaker already in that bathroom. A rating the cable cannot carry is refused, and the reason is given there.
- Fit the cord isolatorThe shower is connected and a cord isolator is fitted at the switch position. The tray, the screen and the tiling remain with the bathroom fitter.
- Leave the Priory board shutHouses from the 1920s and 1930s on the old Reigate Priory estate are at the age where boards are replaced. That replacement is another booking. This visit ends at the shower.

What happens when the bathroom cable is too light?
The shower stays unconnected. The finding is explained in that bathroom, and a heavier feed is priced as later work instead of being forced through on the day.
Does a 1930s Priory house get a new board on the same visit?
No. Those houses are old enough that boards are often replaced, and the replacement is booked on its own. This visit stops at the shower connection.
Who looks after the tray and the tiles?
The bathroom fitter. We make the electrical connection and fit the cord isolator. The tray, the screen and the wall finish are outside this visit.
Will a second bathroom be included?
Only when that bathroom was written on the booking. The cable check stays in the room named, and another bathroom waits until it is added.
Is a terrace on Doods Road rewired for one shower?
No. Terraces on Doods Road and Somers Road were extended many times and often still use their original circuits. Rewiring them is a separate booking from one shower connection.
