What happens on the day
Every appliance that remains, including the cooker and the hob, is listed, and its circuit is tested before the old units come out. Around Holy Trinity the kitchen may sit in a later extension on an installation that is already long. On a 1930s semi the original board may never have been meant for that extra load. A flat over a Woodcote Road shop is refitted inside the flat.
- List the appliances firstEach appliance that stays is written next to the circuit meant for it. A request that appears after the units come out is tried on that circuit before any wire is made off.
- Count the ways that existOn a 1930s semi the original board was never sized for the extension now on the house, so a second oven is not assumed to fit. The spare ways are counted first.
- Stay inside the flatThe shop below a flat on Woodcote Road is not used to feed the hob. If the flat needs a new circuit, that circuit belongs to the flat's kitchen.

Can the old board feed a bigger hob?
Only when it tests as able. On a 1930s semi the original board was often never meant for the extension, and a hob is not added on hope.
Are villa kitchens in the later part of the house?
Sometimes. On Clifton Road and Belmont Road the kitchen may sit on a long installation, and that section is tested for the appliances.
Can the shop feed the flat's oven?
No. The flat over the Woodcote Road shops keeps its own circuits. The shop below is not a spare way for the oven or the hob.
Will you fit the cabinets?
No. The electrical circuits are connected. Cabinets, worktops and plumbing stay with the kitchen fitter.
Is Roundshaw assumed to need a new board?
No. Houses rebuilt from 1998 are checked for room. Another kitchen circuit is added when the board can take it, and that is not a rewire.
