Kitchen electrical refit in Reigate
A kitchen refit in Reigate has cables in place before the units, and the outlets after. A terrace on Somers Road keeps its original circuits, and this is not a rewire of them.

What happens on the day
Cables for the kitchen are in place before the units go in, and the sockets, the hob connection and the other outlets are fitted once the units allow it. The joiner keeps the cupboards, the worktop and the pipes. This is not a rewire of the whole house. A new circuit is notified. In a terrace on Somers Road the original circuits were extended many times, and the kitchen does not become the moment those circuits are replaced. A board change on a 1930s Priory house stays its own booking.
- First fix before the unitsCables are run while the kitchen is still open. Sockets and other outlets wait until the units are in a state that lets them be fitted.
- Isolate only the appliances listedA hob, an oven or a dishwasher is isolated when that appliance is on the booking. An appliance nobody wrote down does not gain a spur just because the kitchen is stripped.
- Keep the Somers circuitsA terrace on Somers Road often still uses circuits that were extended many times. The kitchen work does not replace them, and a Priory board change stays separate.

When are the sockets fitted?
After the units are ready for them. Cables go in while the kitchen is open, and the outlets follow once there is somewhere for them to land.
Who moves the cupboards and the pipes?
The joiner. Cupboards, the worktop and the pipes stay with that trade. We do the cables, the outlets and the isolation that was listed.
Is the rest of a Somers Road terrace rewired?
No. Those terraces were extended many times on their original circuits. The kitchen is the kitchen, and replacing the rest of the circuits is another booking.
Will a 1930s Priory board be changed as well?
No. A board change for a house on the old Reigate Priory estate is its own booking. Finishing the kitchen does not open that board.
What is notified?
A new circuit is notified. An outlet added on a circuit that is already there is recorded as the smaller job it is.
