What happens on the day
While the units are still out, the cables go in. Sockets and other outlets wait until the carcasses give them a landing. Cooking appliances and a dishwasher are isolated when they are on the booking. The joiner keeps the cabinets, the work surface and the pipework. Rooms beyond the kitchen are left as they are. Building control receives any new kitchen circuit. Older cable behind a newer board waits for another booking. An original fuse board behind pebbledash stays a later booking.
- Bare room first, outlets afterCables go in while the kitchen is bare. Outlets wait until the units can take them, and they are not forced onto unfinished carcasses.
- Only the appliances on the bookingCooking appliances and a dishwasher are isolated when they were listed. An appliance missing from the booking does not grow a spur.
- Older cable is not the kitchenCable behind a newer board stays its own question. The pebbledash fuse board is not swapped because the kitchen finished.

When are the sockets fitted?
Once the units can take them. Cables go in while the room is bare, and outlets follow when there is a landing for them.
Who shifts the cupboards and pipes?
The joiner. We run cable, fit the outlets and isolate what was listed. Cabinets and pipework stay with that trade.
Is the rest of the house rewired with the kitchen?
No. Older cable behind a newer board is another booking. The kitchen does not become that replacement.
Does the pebbledash fuse board get swapped too?
No. That swap is a later booking. Finishing the kitchen does not open the board, even when the cover is already off.
What goes to building control?
Any new kitchen circuit. An outlet added onto a circuit the kitchen already uses is written up as that smaller change.
